Is Composite Bonding Right For You?

Composite Bonding is a versatile treatment option that can help to address a wide range of dental concerns. It may be the perfect choice for you if you have:

‍

  • Chipped teeth
  • Cracked teeth
  • Discolouration
  • Gaps
  • Asymmetry
  • Worn teeth

There are many ways you can achieve your dream smile, but traditional options such as braces can take much longer. With dental bonding, results can be achieved in as little as one appointment, or can be combined with other treatments like Invisalign for a complete smile transformation.

For more severe or complex issues, Composite Bonding may not always be appropriate. Our experienced treatment coordinators will always discuss the best treatment options for you during your consultation appointment.

Composite bonding

I’m so happy with the outcome

I visited Dental Excellence for some advice on my teeth as I was unhappy with the gap between my front two teeth and my overall smile. I had the pleasure of being treated by Alex and she was great from the initial consultation right through to completion. She took on board all of my requests and made sure that I was happy at every stage of the process. I’m so happy with the outcome and Alex delivered exactly what i asked for.

Composite bonding

I am so pleased that I chose Harrison

I went to see Dr Harrison to replace existing composite bonding as it was looking old and worn. I spent months researching and deciding on who to trust with transforming my smile as my teeth are quite complex, and I am so pleased that I chose Harrison. Throughout the process he has explained everything in great detail, been very flexible with working around my schedule and made me feel at ease at every appointment. He really has done a fantastic job, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else wanting to create a beautiful smile. I'm over the moon with my new teeth so thank you!

Invisalign, Teeth whitening, Composite bonding

can’t recommend her enough

I’ve just finished my treatment with Dental Excellence which consisted of an Invisalign package, whitening package and 6 composite edge bonding. I was treated by Alex and honestly can’t recommend her enough, I had my bonding done today and everything has been done perfectly, I love them. Every appointment was so personal and she took a genuine interest into what goal I had in mind for my teeth. I had paid for 6 edge bonding however during the appointment we decided that not all 6 teeth needed doing, I appreciate this so much as Alex wanted the best outcome for me and for my smile to be as natural as possible. Once again biggest thank you to Dr. Alex and all the team at Dental Excellence you’ve made my dream smile reality!

Dental implants, Composite bonding

now I can’t stop smiling

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better smile. I chose Dental Excellence UK Liverpool after multiple recommendations from friends, and seeing their incredible results, first hand. The team at Dental Excellence UK Liverpool don’t just give you the perfect smile, they truly work with you to get the best possible results, catered to your preferences, whilst offering their professional advice. They even organised to have my care done with minimal trips, as I was travelling to them from Leeds. I had the pleasure of being managed by both Dr Chris Harrison (for my dental care) and Emily Roscoe (for my cosmetic dentistry). They are both brilliant at what they do and I couldn’t recommend them enough. I was SO self conscious about my teeth and, in areas where my enamel had worn, I was having significant pain and sensitivity. Now I can’t stop smiling.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of Composite Bonding?

Composite Bonding is a minimally invasive procedure that can improve a number of issues including chips, small gaps, asymmetry and discolouration. It can improve the shape, colour and overall appearance of your teeth in as little as one appointment, whilst preserving your natural tooth.

Who is Composite Bonding suitable for?

Composite Bonding is ideal for patients with healthy teeth who want to improve minor imperfections such as chips, small gaps, wear, asymmetry and discolouration.

‍

During your consultation appointment, we’ll talk to you about your goals and assess whether Composite Bonding is right for you.

Does Composite Bonding hurt?

Composite Bonding is generally a painless procedure due to its minimally-invasive nature. In most cases, it requires little to no drilling or anaesthetic.

What is the recovery time for Composite Bonding?

There is no recovery time for Composite Bonding. The composite hardens under a special dental light meaning you can get back to your normal daily routine straight away. Your bite may feel slightly different but you’ll soon get used to it after a couple of days.

Does Composite Bonding damage your natural teeth?

When carried out by an experienced cosmetic dentist, composite bonding is a safe, minimally invasive treatment that typically requires little to no drilling, helping to preserve your natural tooth structure. The composite resin is carefully bonded to the surface of the tooth without causing damage to the underlying enamel.

‍

At Dental Excellence, our highly skilled clinicians use advanced techniques and state-of-the-art technology to achieve precise, natural-looking results while protecting the long-term health of your teeth.

How long does Composite Bonding last?

On average, Composite Bonding lasts around 5 years, although this varies from patient to patient. The lifespan of your treatment depends on several factors, including:

  • The quality of the treatment - expert application using high-quality materials helps achieve longer-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Where the bonding is placed - bonding on front teeth may wear more quickly than bonding on teeth exposed to less pressure
  • The health of your natural teeth - healthy teeth provide a stronger foundation for the composite resin
  • Your aftercare - good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups and avoiding habits like nail biting or teeth grinding can help extend the life of your bonding

How much does Composite Bonding cost?

Composite Bonding starts from £295 per tooth, although the final cost depends on the number of teeth being treated and the complexity of your case. During your consultation, we'll provide a personalised treatment plan and transparent quotation. Flexible finance options are also available.

Can you remove Composite Bonding?

Yes, in many cases Composite bonding can be removed by an experienced cosmetic dentist. Treatment typically involves adding composite resin to the surface of your teeth with little to no drilling, meaning your natural teeth are preserved and removal is possible.

‍

If your bonding becomes worn, chipped or you're simply ready for a change, it can also be repaired or replaced without needing to start your smile journey from scratch.

Can Composite Bonding fix crooked teeth?

Whilst Composite Bonding doesn’t physically move your teeth it can help to disguise mild crookedness by reshaping the teeth. For those with significant issues, pairing Composite Bonding with Invisalign usually offers best results.

Can Composite Bonding be whitened?

No. Composite resin doesn't respond to whitening treatments in the same way as natural teeth. If you're considering both teeth whitening and composite bonding, we recommend whitening your teeth first so your bonding can be colour-matched to your brighter smile.

‍

If only one or two teeth are discoloured, Composite Bonding can be used to improve the appearance of individual discoloured teeth by matching them to the shade of your surrounding natural teeth.

Can Composite Bonding be applied to crowns?

Composite Bonding doesn't bond effectively to dental crowns in the same way it does to natural tooth enamel. If you're unhappy with the appearance of an existing crown, we'll discuss the most appropriate treatment options during your consultation.

Does Composite Bonding stain?

Composite Bonding is resistant to staining but can become discoloured over time, particularly if you regularly consume tea, coffee, red wine or smoke.

‍

Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular hygiene appointments will help keep your bonding looking its best. Composite resin is most susceptible to staining during the first 48 hours after treatment, so we recommend avoiding foods and drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine and curry during this time.

How do I care for Composite Bonding?

Looking after Composite Bonding is simple. Advice is the same as for your natural teeth; brush and floss daily, attend regular dental check-ups and avoid biting hard objects such as ice or fingernails. We'll also provide personalised aftercare advice following your treatment.

What’s the difference between Composite Bonding and Porcelain Veneers?

Both treatments improve the appearance of your smile, but Composite Bonding is less invasive and can often be completed in a single appointment. Porcelain veneers require more preparation but generally last longer and offer greater resistance to staining.

‍

During your consultation, we'll help you decide which option is right for you.

What’s the difference between Composite Bonding and Composite Veneers?

There is no difference between Composite Bonding and Composite Veneers. Composite Veneers are created using composite bonding techniques, to cover the entire front surface of teeth, allowing for more significant changes to the shape, size and colour. However, Composite Bonding can also be used to repair imperfections such as small gaps and chipped teeth, without the need to cover the whole tooth’s surface.

‍

During your consultation, we'll assess your smile and recommend the approach that will achieve the best, most natural-looking results for you.
