Invisible braces and other similar teeth straightening solutions are very popular, as they are easy to use, comfortable to wear and look very subtle, so they will not make you feel self-conscious in the way traditional braces might. At Dental Excellence, we see many patients from London and the South East who struggle with misaligned teeth, or mild to moderate overbites or underbites.
Our teeth continue to move and shift throughout our lifetimes, so whether or not you have had orthodontic treatment in the past, invisible braces such as Invisalign and similar teeth straightening solutions can be an excellent way to regain confidence in your smile. At Dental Excellence, we use state-of-the-art aligners to make your journey to a new smile as simple and comfortable as possible. Our advanced approach also requires fewer appointments than some other treatments, which is ideal for our London patients.
Same Day Smile treatments are a fantastic option, as you can achieve a beautiful, renewed smile in just one appointment at our Liverpool or Chelsea dental clinics. These treatments generally consist of composite edge bonding or composite veneer treatments, which can be used to whiten and reshape the teeth, create the illusion of straighter teeth, and correct the appearance of minor misalignments.
When you visit our state-of-the-art smile centre, our dental team will be on hand to put you at ease straight away. Composite veneers and composite edge bonding treatments differ from traditional porcelain veneers, as they are created and applied chairside by your dentist. The composite - a tooth-coloured material (the same kind used in classic fillings) - is matched expertly to your natural and desired tooth shade, then applied in very thin layers to the surface of the tooth. Your dentist will carefully sculpt and mould the composite in your mouth to achieve a beautiful, natural-looking smile that perfectly suits you.
Composite veneers generally cover the full tooth and are a fantastic option for whitening teeth while also smoothing the surface and correcting the appearance of misalignments. Composite edge bonding, on the other hand, usually only covers the edges of the teeth and can be used to smooth rough or uneven edges, cover wear and enamel damage, or fill in a chipped tooth. This is a less intensive and very natural-looking option if you want to enhance your smile quickly, comfortably and without the need for repeat treatments.
Both composite veneers and composite edge bonding can be carried out in one day at our Liverpool or Chelsea smile makeover centres, giving you a brand-new smile through a quick, comfortable and hassle-free treatment.
Porcelain veneers are a slightly more intensive treatment than composite veneers or composite edge bonding, but they offer patients fantastic, long-term results that fit perfectly with their own natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are a very thin layer of medical-grade porcelain that is crafted to fit seamlessly over the surface of a natural tooth or teeth. Veneers are ideal for patients who want a long-term solution to stained or discoloured teeth, uneven edges, chipped teeth or the appearance of squint or misaligned teeth. After your initial appointments to mould and fit them, porcelain veneers require very little maintenance and will last for 10 to 15 years or more if well cared for.
Unlike composite treatments, which can be carried out in one day, porcelain veneers take a few appointments, as our lab team needs time to create your bespoke veneers. In your first appointment, we will take a variety of scans and moulds to allow us to create a highly accurate 3D model of your tooth or teeth. This is then passed on to our lab team, who carefully create every single porcelain veneer in-house. We will also prepare the teeth for veneers and give you temporary veneers to keep your teeth safe and healthy between appointments. During this appointment, we will gently remove some of the enamel on the surface of the tooth to ensure that the veneers bond properly to your natural teeth before fitting your veneers. Once your veneers are ready, you will come in for another appointment where the permanent porcelain veneers are fitted.
Once fitted, porcelain veneers should last at least 10 to 15 years and can be cared for in the same way as your natural teeth - you do not need any extra products or routines. Porcelain veneers are also more resistant to staining than natural teeth or composite veneers, meaning your smile will stay shiny and white for as long as you have them.
Dental implants are an in-depth restorative dentistry treatment that can be used to replace missing teeth or teeth that need to be removed. They can be used on both the upper and lower arches, and you can have just one or two implants, or an “All-On-4” full set of implant-supported teeth, depending on the condition of your teeth, your age and your needs. Dental implant treatment requires several appointments to ensure your teeth adapt properly and to prevent any issues with your remaining natural teeth in the future.
Dental implants are a fixed solution for replacing missing teeth and consist of small titanium screws that are placed, or implanted, into the gum where the root of your natural tooth would be. Over about a month, the screws fuse with the bone of the jaw to anchor them in place and provide your dentist with a strong foundation to safely attach replacement teeth without damaging or affecting your existing natural teeth.
There is a period of time between when the implants are first fitted and when permanent crowns or replacement teeth are placed. This is usually around three to six months, though it can vary depending on your teeth, the number of implants you have fitted, and a range of other factors that your dentist will explain. This waiting period can feel frustrating for patients, but you will be given temporary tooth replacements to make sure you can smile with confidence while your body adapts to the implants. It is very important to leave the implants time to integrate, as this prevents issues caused by tooth movement over time, which could otherwise lead to more dental work in the future.
Once your implants have settled, we can fit permanent replacement teeth to give you a bespoke smile that can last for decades. Our clinical team includes some of the UK’s top dentists and specialist implantologists, so you can feel confident that you are in good hands with Dental Excellence. As well as having exceptional technical skill, our dentists are also highly experienced at explaining treatment plans and putting patients at ease throughout their journey with us - one of the many reasons so many of our London-based patients choose Dental Excellence.
There are a few different treatment options available in modern dentistry to help replace missing teeth, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Missing teeth should be treated as soon as possible, as they can lead to a range of other dental problems, such as:
Dentures are one of the most common and well-known tooth replacements. Dentures are popular as they do not require a lot of invasive dental work, unlike treatments such as dental implants. This also means they are less expensive, as they require less specialist time. Dentures can be created from acrylic, nylon or metal and fit over the gums to replace missing teeth. They come in complete sets, which replace all of your teeth, or partial sets, which replace only one or a few teeth. They need to be replaced every five to seven years as your mouth changes shape, and they usually require particular care, which your dentist can show you.
Dental bridges are another common method of tooth replacement and are often used to fill gaps with two healthy teeth on either side. Dental bridges involve placing a replacement tooth that is bonded to the teeth on either side (which can be done in several different ways, depending on the condition of your surrounding teeth as well as personal preference). Dental bridges can blend in perfectly with your natural teeth and do not require separate maintenance. Bridges can last for around eight to fifteen years, depending on the type of bridge and the condition of the surrounding teeth.
At Dental Excellence, we understand that every patient is different and adapt our care plans based on your individual circumstances. However, when it comes to replacing missing teeth, dental implants are often a very good option as they are fixed and long-lasting compared to bridges and dentures, which need to be replaced more often. Dental implants also blend in with your natural teeth very effectively, so you do not have to worry about your smile looking fake or unnatural, making them the first choice for many of our patients.
Your dentist will be able to recommend the right treatment or combination of treatments for you based on your dental health, your goals and your lifestyle during your consultation. No matter what kind of treatment you and your dentist agree on, you can feel confident that you are in experienced hands with our team. As well as nationally recognised dentists, we also have specialist implantologists to ensure that your tooth replacement journey is smooth, comfortable and gives you the results you are looking for.
