Appointments usually take 45 to 60 minutes and include time to ask questions and understand your treatment options.

Our Liverpool and Chelsea, London clinics are both easy to reach from Dublin, with direct flights to Liverpool and regular services to London.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a very popular treatment that offers a long-term solution to correct discolouration, misalignment and chipped or uneven teeth. Porcelain veneers usually last for 10-15 years with proper care, and can give you a bright, even smile that you’re proud to show off!Porcelain veneer treatment is pretty simple and generally takes just a few appointments after your Dublin consultation with our dentistry team. After full assessment and treatment planning, we’ll create a mockup where the team will take a model of your tooth or teeth to ensure our lab team can create a high-quality and completely personalised porcelain veneer that fits your teeth perfectly. Then we’ll carefully shave a thin layer of enamel to ensure your veneer bonds properly with the surface of the tooth and apply temporary veneers to keep you looking and feeling your best. Then, once your perfectly crafted porcelain veneers are ready, the veneer is then applied and bonded to your tooth, leaving you with a bright, straight and beautiful smile.Porcelain veneers are hardwearing and require the same care as your natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are also resistant to staining, making them a long-term option for a bright white smile.

How Do I Know if I Should Get Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are an excellent option for patients looking to makeover one or more of their teeth with a long-wearing and completely bespoke treatment plan. We generally recommend porcelain veneers to patients that have had composite veneer treatments once or twice before and are looking for a longer-term option, or patients whose teeth have a little more natural wear than our composite veneer patients.Porcelain veneers are a great way to brighten your teeth and give you confidence in your smile, but can help to treat a variety of other general dentistry concerns as well. If you struggle with any of these conditions, porcelain veneers may be the right treatment plan for you:Mild tooth misalignment.Staining or discolouration which cannot be lifted by traditional tooth whitening.Chips along the edge or corners of the teeth.Uneven or jagged tooth edges, or uneven surface of the tooth.Mild cracks in the tooth enamel or on the surface of the toothPorcelain veneers are mostly an aesthetic choice, though this doesn’t make them any less important! Feeling confident in your smile is something that is so impactful on the way you live your life, and it can really interfere with your social and professional life if you don’t feel good about the way that you look.If you’re unsure about the commitment that porcelain veneers require, your dentist may recommend composite veneers or composite bonding, which can be done in much less time and without the need to change the natural structure of the tooth.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain Veneers are very thin, carefully sculpted layers of porcelain that are created based on a digital scan of your tooth or teeth. This then slots perfectly over the surface of the tooth and is bonded there to keep it secure.

What’s Involved in Getting Veneers?

There are a few different steps involved in getting veneers. First, you’ll have a scan and image taken of your teeth to allow your dentist to create a custom veneer. Once the smile design has been agreed we give you a “motivational mockup”. This is essentially a composite mould of your new smile that we temporarily apply to your teeth so that you can “try on” your new smile before we move forward. If you want to make any adjustments at this stage it is entirely possible. In the same appointment, the surface of the tooth will be prepared to allow the veneers to bond properly and we will fit you with temporary veneers to give you the opportunity to live with your new smile and make sure it feels comfortable. We can still make changes to the design at this stage, the most important thing is that you are 100% happy with your new smile. Once your custom veneers are ready, they’ll replace your temporary veneers and be bonded to the surface of the tooth.

Do you have to brush veneers?

Yes, you do need to brush porcelain veneers. However, they don’t require any additional care to the rest of your teeth.

How Do Veneers Work?

Veneers cover the surface of the tooth and fit perfectly over your natural tooth. This covers the appearance of discolouration, uneven edges, chips, cracks or minor misalignment, giving you a beautifully straight, white smile!

Is Same Day Smile Treatment Right for Me?

Same day smile treatments are incredibly popular, particularly for patients who visit us from further afield, such as our Dublin patients, as they are quick, comfortable and provide beautiful results in less than a day!If you struggle with the appearance of your smile and want to correct imperfections such as tooth misalignment, uneven tooth edges, chips or cracks in the teeth or discolouration that you can’t lift with traditional whitening methods, then composite veneers or bonding may be right for you. By smoothing, brightening and gently reshaping the teeth, our clinical team can help to construct the smile you’ve always dreamed of and give you the confidence to not think about your appearance, whatever it is you’re doing! As Same Day Smile treatments don’t permanently change your natural teeth at all, most people can have this treatment using composite veneers and/or composite bonding treatment, as long as your teeth are generally healthy and you take care of your dental health as you should. Same Day Smile treatments are very effective at treating minor to moderate imperfections in your smile, but if you’re looking to correct more severe misalignments or issues, then your dentist will discuss the right option for you in your consultation.

What are Same Day Smile Treatments?

Same Day Smiles are a treatment that is bespoke to you. The majority of same day smile treatments use composite veneers and/or composite bonding treatments, alongside tooth whitening, to create a beautiful smile that suits you perfectly in only one treatment appointment!

What are the Benefits of Same Day Smiles?

The main benefits of same day smile treatments are how quick they are! However, same day smiles are also very comfortable, don’t require any invasive procedures or permanent changes to your teeth and can last without touch-ups for 5 - 7 years with good maintenance, making them an excellent investment for our Dublin patients at Dental Excellence.

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding and composite veneer treatments are when a composite resin (the same kind used in traditional tooth fillings) is placed on the tooth to strengthen, brighten, smooth and whiten teeth. The composite resin is colour-matched to your teeth to create results that are beautiful, but also very subtle and natural-looking.

How Long Does Composite Bonding Last?

Composite bonding treatments take less than a day to apply and should be touched up every 5 to 7 years or so, depending on where and how your composite has been applied, as well as your lifestyle. With regular care and maintenance from you and your dentist, composite bonding treatments can last for a very long time before they need to be completely removed and reapplied.

What is dental implant treatment & dental crowns?

Dental implant treatment can be a complex process, which is why it is so important to be able to trust the expertise of your dentist or implantologist. At Dental Excellence, we are very proud of the expertise of our team and the truly life-changing results they can create for our patients.Dental implant treatments are a great choice for patients who have lost teeth or require extractions, as it is a permanent treatment that doesn’t require extra care to the rest of your teeth, unlike some other tooth-replacement options, such as dentures. Dental implants can be cared for in the same way as your regular teeth, and are designed to last for many years to come. There are a few separate steps to dental implant treatment, so you’ll need a few different appointments with our experienced team. First, we’ll extract any existing teeth that need to be removed before placing the dental implant. The actual dental implants are small titanium screws which replace the root of your tooth. This means that they reach down into the jawbone, where your tooth root would normally go, and fuse with the bone to anchor them in place. This is one of the reasons dental implants last so well, and why the process of getting implants can take a little longer than other forms of restorative dentistry. After being placed, the dental implants need time to heal, fuse and integrate with the jawbone, which means they may move around slightly over time. Between appointments, we can offer you temporary tooth replacements so you don’t have to feel self-conscious about your smile while you’re mid-treatment! After around three to six months, depending on the complexity of your case, most patients are ready for permanent dental crowns to be put in. These fit perfectly around your existing teeth, looking and behaving in a natural way to give you a renewed and refreshed smile for good!

Should I Be Thinking About Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a fantastic treatment which can have life-changing, permanent results, but it is a big commitment to make. Treatment can last for around a year, or even longer, depending on the condition of your teeth, gums and jaw. If you have missing teeth, dental implants are an excellent option to replace these teeth and look after your dental health. Missing teeth can cause a number of issues with your dental and general health if left untreated, such as:Crowding or misalignment of the teeth around the gap, which may need further orthodontic work.Increased risk of cuts and infection to the gum that has been left exposed.Increased risk of infection and gum disease, as brushing becomes more difficult. You may find it difficult to eat or chew certain foods, which restrict your ability to have a balanced, healthy diet.Discomfort with the appearance of your teeth can lead to a lack of confidence and have a considerable effect on your mental health. If you have missing teeth then dental implants are often a great option that will permanently fill any gaps. Implants do need healthy gum and jawbones to work effectively If you still have all of your teeth, which is something that your dentist will discuss with you in your consultation to make sure you’re always getting the best possible treatment plan for you. If you have teeth that need to be removed, they can be taken out as part of your dental implant treatment. As well as the time it takes for a full course of dental implant treatment, dental implants are also a substantial investment, as multiple implants can cost several thousand euros/pounds or more. You’re paying for the technical expertise of your dentist and implantologist, as implantology involves several highly technical procedures, as well as the regular checkups throughout your treatment process. However, once your dental implant treatment is complete they are long-lasting, as dental implants act like natural teeth and require the same kind of care, unlike other tooth replacement treatments, such as dentures, for example.
